Roots, Migration, and Organization
Community Roots
The Mogaveera community has long been known for courage, resilience, and unity. Rooted along the coastal belt, families traditionally depended on fishing and fish trade while preserving a simple and dignified way of life shaped by cooperation, coexistence, and freedom.
Migration to Bengaluru
As families sought better opportunities, migration to cities increased. This movement gathered momentum after the reorganization of states in 1956, when the undivided South Canara district became part of Karnataka, leading to a steady movement of Mogaveeras to Bengaluru.
Formation of the Sangha
As the community settled across the city, the need for a common platform became clear. Eminent leaders came together in 1973 to lay the foundation for Mogaveera Sangha, Bengaluru, which was formally registered on 12 March 1975 under the Karnataka Societies Act.
